In honor of Red Ribbon Week, a week that is recognized as being National Drug awareness week, Clayton’s mother presented O.S.H.S. with a shadow box containing Clayton’s graduation cap, his senior formal picture and a statement that says, “In Loving Memory of Clayton Smith 3/5/86-11/12/03.” Clayton never got to wear his graduation cap because of DRUGS! Don’t let them keep you from wearing yours. The shadow box will hang in the school cafeteria for all to be reminded of the dangers of recreational drug use. Clayton’s mother also spent a day during three lunch periods and handed out red ribbons and drug awareness literature.
Every year Clayton's Lesson and The Roane County Anti-Drug Coalition assist schools in our area in their efforts to participate in Red Ribbon Week. We supply them with materials needed in order to participate along with ideas on hosting events. We also provide guest speakers from our Coalition that go to the schools and speak to the students on issues pertaining to substance abuse.
